Skye's Day Today

Today we went to Maxi Zoo, but left Skye at home, because whilst it's very important for Skye to come out and about to several different places, she has to learn to settle down when left home alone. Amber came with us and we left Skye in her crate with some toys. When we came back, about an hour later, Skye was fast asleep and looked very chilled out!

I noticed recently that Skye can sometimes 'dodge the lead', so when I am trying to clip the lead on, she runs off. I practised calling her, slipping my finger in the collar and then giving her a tasty treat, before clipping the lead on and giving her another really tasty treat. I might only leave the lead on for 2 minutes and then let her off again with her release command "go play!" She is getting much better at this now.

Skye's recall is getting really good

Skye was fussing earlier this morning when we gave the gerbils a new treat, she must have fancied it herself! She was pawing at their cage so we used the trailing lead method (bringing her away and then rewarding her) after about 3 times she had got the idea and left them alone.

Skye's now really good about settling down when we are busy working, she will happily go to her bed (or Ambers!) and go for a nap. Skye loves coming out with me and my brothers and sisters when we go on our bikes or up the garden, she runs alongside us, normally with a ball in her mouth and a tail wagging side to side!!
