Day Out at a Dog Show

Drogheda was great fun! We arrived on the Friday night, and all we did was go to bed as it was very late! On Saturday we took Amber and Skye for a nice walk, we went out of the cul-de-sac where we were staying and down the road (which was quite busy) to a junction where you crossed over one section, then waited in the middle on a pavement area, before crossing again, so it was a good traffic expereince for Skye. We continued walking until we got to a field where they had an off lead run before heading back. Later that evening we went into Tesco's and took Skye in her jacket. She tries to rub against you at the moment when she's wearing her Halti so we are discouraging this. Otherwise she was very good, and Tesco is huge but she walked the whole way around with us. Several people stopped to ask about her! Just behind the tills they had a fun ride for little children, I don't know what the proper name is! Anyway my brother TiarnĂ¡n had a turn so Skye saw that, and looked at it at first slightly confused, however, by the time the ride had finished she didn't mind it at all.

On the Sunday we went to the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ireland 2012 Championship Show, the reason we had gone up to Drogheda in the first place! Skye was wearing her jacket and several of us took turns handling her, she behaved well for us all.  My brother Eoin (aged 7) took Skye into Junior Handling, and he really enjoyed it, so did Skye! Skye was very good for Eoin aswell. They got a medal so Eoin was delighted and said that Skye was a champion! Caitlin took Amber too. Amber was good in her competition well, her behaviour was OK! Despite the salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, she decided she didn't fancy running around the ring more than a couple of times! Oh well we had fun! She still got a trophy, I was suprised! Amber and Skye loved meeting all the people and dogs at the show and enjoyed themselves.
Skye didn't mind all the crowds, or the distractions of other dogs all around her. It was a fun day for everyone!

Amber and Skye enjoyed the day out

Amber shows off her prize, she looks very proud of it!
