Today we took Skye to Mahon Point, to meet with Nuala and Sophie from AADI. Sophie is a canine behaviourist and is going to be involved in helping to train the puppies. Skye was being stubborn and stopping if she felt like it, so Sophie did a training session with us and Skye at the shopping centre. When Skye refused to walk nicely we were encouraged to face the direction we were heading and gently put pressure on the lead. Once she followed we then remade eye contact and praised her well, sometimes with a treat. She is a quick learner and was soon walking much better at my side. What we are aiming for is for her to walk confidently just slightly ahead, thereby guiding the child she is assisting. Here are some photos!
